Maltese Outbound

January to November 2006

In November 2006, outbound tourists amounted to 16,488 an increase of 3,954 passengers or 31.5% over the corresponding month a year ago. Of these, 90.2% travelled by air while 9.8% travelled by sea. Over 13,000 outbound tourists left for EU destinations, predominantly Italy and the UK.

Between January to November 2006, Maltese passengers departing by air and by sea amounted to 233,354, an increase of 27,583 passengers or 13.4% over the corresponding period a year ago. Of these, 86.7% travelled by air while 13.3% travelled by sea. The most frequent destination was Italy, accounting for 31.0% of the total.
