Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz - Highlights of our green practices
The Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz is the only spa and countryside hideaway resort on the islands. While a five star hotel is always depicted as absolute luxury, abundance and indulgence, we are very conscious of the impact we have on the environment.
In our current changing environment we feel it is our duty to do all we can to limit this impact through the implementation of measures throughout the hotel.
We are looking into environmental measures, which will contribute to sustainable tourism while minimizing impact on the environment as reduction and segregation of waste, energy savings, adequate handling of chemical products while promoting the local culture, heritage, environment and traditions. The following are included in the sustainable policy of the hotel:
- Monitoring and investigating more efficient use of energy and water consumption.
Manage lights and equipment when not needed to use less energy, extend appliances life and reduce maintenance. Ensure the correct use of the energy management systems in rooms, and investment in newer technology and renewable energy. Ensure the proper storage of water through reservoirs, use of secondary water wherever possible and the reduction of any waste of water.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental legislation.
- Continually manage waste production and segregation.
Reduce the amount of waste by ensuring the continuous training on waste segregation, proper handling of waste, recycling of waste, and the purchasing of proper material that lowers the creation of waste.
- Supporting the local economy by sourcing products locally.
Buy locally to enabling local community to benefit from tourism. It can help to differentiate our business and improve quality. The potential is to use local suppliers to provide food, crafts, souvenirs, soft furnishings, and any other necessary supplies.
- Training all our staff to be more aware of Sustainable Tourism.
- Encourage all guests to support us in our environmental policy.
Promote through all our staff the local culture, its environment, and local traditions through activities which are entertaining as walking, cycling, agro tourism, diving etc.
