Tourist Information Centres


The Malta Tourism Authority is responsible for a number of tourist information centres situated at the   Malta International Airport (MIA), Valletta (Head Office and the Waterfront) , Mdina, Mellieha and Victoria/Rabat (Gozo

The MIA centre in the Arrivals Lounge is now situated in a more visible location.  The centre is manned by the following tourist information officers: Ms Anna Abela, Ms Caroline Balzan Engerer, Ms Carmen Mckay Galea and Ms Alison Grech. It is estimated that the centre assists around 2,500 customers monthly on average.  The type of assistance given is mainly related to accommodation, transport facilities to and from the airport as well as general information particularly events.

The Valletta centre is the largest and  assists about 12,000 customers on average per month. 

The centre is currently housed at the Auberge D’Italie (Head Office) and manned by Ms Rebecca Engerer , Ms Marisa Micallef Ritrovato, Mr Stefan Vella and Ms Carmen Engerer.

The back office staff within the same building includes Mr Joe Bonello, Manager TICs, Ms Delia Lomax who assists Manager TICs.

The Mdina TIC was inaugurated on the 25th of September 2009 with an estimated 120 customers a day.  It is currently manned by Mr Melvin Vella (part timer) and two other service providers namely: Mr Charles Borg and Ms Nicole Cuschieri.  This centre caters for Rabat and other towns/villages in the vicinity.

The Mellieha TIC was inaugurated on the 13th August 2009 and caters for an estimated 80 customers a day.  It is manned by Ms Ann Gauci (part timer).  The centre is situated next to the Mellieha Sanctuary – a very popular place visited by locals and tourists.

The Gozo TIC has been relocated from Tigrija Palazz to a more central location at No. 17, Independence Square (It-Tokk), Victoria Gozo as from the 17th June 2011.  It is manned by Ms Josette Portelli, Mr Frank Debono and Ms Mariella Theuma and caters for an average of 2,000 customers per month.

The Valletta Waterfront TIO was inaugurated on the 16th June 2010. The new TIO at Valletta Waterfront was opened in the immediate wake of a 53% (153,646) increase in cruise line passenger traffic being announced for the first five months of this year, when compared to the same period in 2009.
